Impact of Small acts

Who doesn’t want to progress spiritually? Everyone wants is the answer. How many work towards this goal? Everybody. How many work continuously towards their spiritual goals? Now the answer to this question is very few. In Verse ten of Chapter twelve of the Bhagwat Gita, Lord Krishna tries to give an answer to the aforesaid problem which all of us face in our lives. He says that if you are not able to practice yoga continuously, perform your actions in thoughts of Me. Even by engaging in activities on My behalf you shall attain supreme divine success. What an impact of just remembering God in performing all your day to activities.

All of us feel restless while meditating. All of us think of everything except the lord when we meditate. So the lord has given us a solution and its impact is great. If you are feeling restless and materially active, then you should support your meditations by increasing efforts to perform in God’s name all physical, mental and spiritual actions. All your meditative activities, as well other work whether of physical or mental labour or spiritually helping others should be motivated by the only desire to please God.

What is the impact of such actions? Soon you will be able to feel the presence of the lord. What is interesting is that He is ever conscious of the efforts of his devotees.

So don’t get discouraged if your sadhana is not showing any results. With conviction, even if it is appearing blind at this stage keep on meditating and performing your actions for the love of the Lord. One who discontinues his efforts will soon fall to his old patterns. But one who perseveres no matter what are the obstacles and hindrances will find Him for sure. Such is the impact of practice.

Continuous effort to be peaceful regardless of the outer environment and circumstances is the only key to finding Him. If you don’t have time to meditate or find Him, just perform all your actions in His remembrance. It will have a great impact on your lives. Gradual strengthening of the good habit of practicing calmness in meditation will uproot all the bad habits which you are finding difficult to eradicate at this stage. So don’t give up. Every little action which you are doing is having an impact on your lives.

Bhagavad Gita says that even the most restless devotee, one who is finding it difficult to do yoga and meditation, if continues to mediate anyway with love for the lord in his hearts and performs all the actions in his memory, God will reveal Himself to him.

So never undermine the importance of small actions. For every small action has a great impact. Even our ancient scriptures say so.
